Ellen A. Thrush, 79, of Ottawa, IL, died, Thursday, March 24, 2011 at her home surrounded by her children and their families. Funeral Services will be at 1O:OO AM Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Msgr. Jerome Ham officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Visitation will be from 5- 7 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Ellen Thrush was born, February 23, 1932, in Cambridge , IL , to Elmer and Myrtle (Nelson) Sandberg. She married Francis (Bud) Thrush Sr. on January 12, 1952 in Rock Island , IL . She worked at Pleasant View for 18 years. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons John (Jeanne) Thrush and Mike (Marilyn Young) Thrush both of Ottawa. Five daughters, Jean (Jerry) Menard of Swanton VT., Mary ( Dave Joyce) Montano, Susan Cook both of Ottawa, Barb Thrush of Somonauk and Sharon (John) Mettille of Genoa City WI., Fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister Myrtle Van Hyfte of Annawan, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. Also close friends of the family, Debi Thrush, Lauri Burt, Rose Grigsby, Lorraine Arwood, Rocky and Jera Moser and numerous others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis (Bud) Sr., one son, Francis (Buddy) Jr., two great-granddaughters, Kaylee and Aryanna, four brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be her children. Memorials may be directed to the family.
