Eleanor S. Viland

Eleanor S. Viland, 83, of Seneca, IL passed away Monday, December 27, 2010 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday December 30, 2010 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca, IL with Pastor Chris Zierke officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca and also one hour prior to services at Church. Burial will be in Stavanger Cemetery. Eleanor was born January 5, 1927 in Seneca, IL to Jesse and Elva (Clauson) Sand. She married Victor Viland July 8, 1956 in Seneca, IL. Eleanor worked for her father at Sand's Grocery Store during the war. She also worked at Seneca Grade School and Seneca High School as a secretary. Lastly, she retired from Graves Lumber Co. in Seneca. Eleanor was a member or Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Seneca, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of the Women of the Lutheran Church. She is survived by her care giver and cousin, Mary McCook, as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews. Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband; one sister, Dorothy Sand; two brothers, Mervin and Robert Sand; and two sister in laws, Peg and Marge Sand. Pallbearers will be Richard Sand, Rob Walters, Tony Romano, George Oswald, Tom Raibley, Richard Anderson. Memorials may be directed to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or Pleasant View.
