Elaine J. (Denny) Beutler, 90, of Ottawa passed away April 11, 2011 at LaSalle County Nursing Home in Ottawa. Private memorial services were held. She was buried in Oakwood Memorial Park. Ottawa Funeral Home oversaw the cremation. Elaine was born April 2, 1921 in Peru, Illinois to Albert and Rose (Saller) Grubb. She married Richard T. Beutler October 28, 1939 in Muscatine, Iowa. Elaine retired at the age of 77 from over 50 years in the dry cleaning business as a presser for Peerless and Blackley Cleaners. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working crosswords and going to horse races, dog races, and riverboat casinos. She was also an avid watcher of the game show Jeopardy. She is survived by one daughter, Bethany Burke of Tomah, WI; one son-in-law, James Gerald; one sister, Mildred (Jay) Dunn; three grandchildren; Lance Burke of Tomah, WI; Jamie (Rick) Strobel of Ottawa; and Aric Gerald of Ottawa; four great-grandchildren, Kalla and Wesely Burke, Sydney and Savannah Strobel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Pamela Gerald; and one sister, Viola Bohm, and her special friend, Mary Halliday. Memorials may be directed to Ottawa Regional Hospice or The American Cancer Society.
