Edward "Tudor" Panko

Ed was on vacation in Minnesota on Dead Lake at the cabin of his grandparents, Jim and Clara Vittone, built over the last 40 years. He had just spent the day fishing with his sweetheart, Carol, and his parents, Jim and Sandy. They had a great day, having brought in 60 fish. Eddie cleaned the fish. Then we sat down for a good home-cooked meal. After dinner, Carol and Eddie went for an evening ride on the pontoon boat. Later, we all sat around talking and joking for a few hours before bedtime. At about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, Ed suffered a major heart attack and died as a result. The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 13. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 14, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Ed graduated from Ottawa Township High School. He worked at Panko's Restaurant in Naplate for 30 years. During this last year he was employed by Sips Bar in Naplate. Ed loved to fish in Minnesota. He was also a diehard Cubs and Bears fan. He is survived by a son, Edward Panko Jr., of Ottawa; his sweetheart of 18 years, Carol Konrath of Naplate; her daughter Niki (Jon Grabowski) and her grandson, Calvin Grabowski, both of Morris; his parents, Jim and Sandy Panko of Naplate; and two brothers James (Lisa) Panko Jr. of Ottawa, and Mike (Ingrid) Panko of Colorado Springs, Colo. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Irene Panko and his maternal grandparents, James and Clara Vittone. Pallbearers are John "Moggs" Carroll, Mark Duffield, Denny Russell, Greg Dettore, Tim and Mark LeBeau. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
