Edward Miller

Edward P. Miller, 90, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the La Salle County Nursing Home.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 19 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, with Reverend Walter Miller, SVD officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery with military honors.

Ed was born December 20, 1925 in Earlville, IL to Roy and IsaBelle (Thompson) Miller. Ed, the fourth oldest, grew up amongst his 9 brothers and 2 sisters on various farm sites throughout northern La Salle County. The family moved to town while he was away serving in the Army during WWII. Ed married Gilda Battistelli on May 8, 1951; she passed away September 12, 1965. Together, they had four children; Nancy (Art) Laine, Tom (Chris) Miller, Dennis Miller, and, Rae Anne Allen; they survive. Ed then married Barbara (Weber) Plimmer on June 2nd, 1978; she passed away April 14, 2012. Together they had one daughter, Peggy L. Yatchman of Aurora, IL; she survives. Also surviving: one sister, Mary English; one brother, Reverend Walter Miller; sisters-in-law, Anna Marie Miller, Arlene Miller, Barbara Miller, Theresa Miller, Barbara Battistelli, and Mary Gage; one brother-in-law, John (Shoko) Weber; sister-in-law Delores Weber; 19 grandchildren; ever increasing great-grandchildren; and, many, many, many nieces and nephews.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, American Legion Post 33, a past member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Glassworkers Local 19.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; brothers, Robert, John (Betty) and their son Bert; Richard (Shirley), Bud (Agnes), Don, Jerry (Helen), Jim, and Bernie; one sister, Laura (Willis) Mathews and two of their daughters, Cathy and Janice; sister and brothers- in-law, Clarence (Modestina) Wilson, James (Clara)Vittone, Jim (Agnes) Battistelli and their son Richard; Ray (Marlyn) Battistelli, Frank (Agnes) Battistelli, Art Battistelli, Larry English and his son Ron, Helen (Tom) Murphy, Robert Gage, and Charles and William Weber; daughters-in-law, Glenna and Mary Ann; and one great-granddaughter, Marleigh Jai Thomas.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Cliff Laine, Michael Miller, Sam Allen, Mitch Allen, Ed Miller, John Miller, Stu Miller, and Marty Miller.
