Edward C. Benson

Edward C. Benson, 58, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral Service for Ed will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Ed was born May 7, 1953 in Morris, Illinois to Clarence and Marcella (Dorrset) Benson. He worked as a groundskeeper for the National Guard site in Marseilles. He was an avid pool player and member of the APA-BCA Pool League and he loved to fish. He is survived by his life long companion, Barbara Wheeler; one brother, Clarence Benson; three sisters, Rosie Benson, Edie O'Mara, and Donna O'Mara; many nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Frieda Frig. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Memorials may be directed to the family.
