Edith F. Hughes

Edith F. Hughes, 99, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, at La Salle County Nursing Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rev. Doug Williams of the Evangelical Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Renwick, Iowa, to Charles Westley and Anna Mary (Fullerton) Quinn. She married Thomas Hughes June 9, 1928, in Morris. He died Dec. 3, 1958. She is survived by one son, Ray (Carol) Hughes of Ottawa; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas and Bruce Hughes; one daughter, Joan Buckardt; one brother, Charles Westley Quinn; two sisters, Sara Holm and Elizabeth Zenter. Memorials may be directed to the family.
