Dula Mae Carder

Dula Mae Carder, 90, of Ottawa passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2016 at home with her family.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 11, 2016 at Waltham Presbyterian Church with Rev. Cathy Allen officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 - 11:00, 2 hours prior to services, on Monday at Waltham Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Waltham Presbyterian Cemetery following services.
Dula Mae was born February 4, 1926 in Fairbury, Illinois to Swift and Nellie (Fry) Dawson. She married Roy M. Carder February 12, 1950 in Fairbury, Illinois. After 46 years of loving marriage, he passed away September 24, 1998. She was a lifelong member of the Waltham Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the church choir. She was also a lifetime member of Order of Eastern Star and their Grand Matron, and enjoyed spending her time with her card club and her china painting club. Dula Mae met her husband when she worked as a bookkeeper for the grain elevator in Fairbury, Illinois, and, after children, worked as a beautician; she kept her beauticians license current up until last year. She also worked as a host teacher in Texas for many years. Her advice, loyalty, and love for her family and friends will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Ray Carder, David Richard (Sherry) Carder, Jan (Peter) Ferracuti; five grandchildren, Alexis Ferracuti, Shanda (Bryan) O'Donnell, Hal Carder, Kimberly Carder, and Kala Carder; and four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; Roy; and four siblings, Gene Dawson, William Dawson, Lois Lahey, and Frances Dawson.
Pallbearers will be Mark Dawson, Rick Dawson, Steve Weeks, Hal Carder, Jeremiah Stearns, Chuck Lemenager, Darren Weeks, and Pat Lahey.
