Doyle Kenneth Smith, 86, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 3, 2012 at Oakwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Kim Wood officiating. A celebration of life will be immediately following graveside services at The First Congregational Church in Ottawa. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Doyle was born October 6, 1925, to Rufus Aldean and Katherine (Snyder) Smith. He was raised in the Topton Lutheran Orphans Home in Topton, Penn. He married Mary Louise Goetz on Jan. 6, 1961, in Ottawa. He retired from the US Army after 20 years of service and was in World War II, Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. He was a deputy sheriff in LaSalle County for 10 years and worked for the Daily times for 10 years. He and his wife owned and operated Twin Oaks Antique Shop for over thirty years. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. He is survived by, two daughters, Dr. Jeanne Marie (Ralph) Wysocki and Bonnie Margaret (David) Hayes; eight grandchildren, Sam, Kelsey, and Eli Hayes, Makaia, Jaxson, and Mei Mei Decker, Rachel Guerra, and Emily Smith; three great-grandchildren; and his special friend Nancy Zimmerman. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; two sisters, Darlis Mae Fanning and Mildred Snyder; one brother, Alfred Smith; and a son, Doyle Kenneth Smith Jr
