Doyle Olson

Doyle Olson, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Visitation will be on Sunday, February 2, from 3:00pm until 6:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, February 3, at 10:30am at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery.

Doyle was born November 2, 1941, in Ottawa, IL, to James and Marie (Cantlin) Olson. He married Kathleen (Kay) Collins on August 3, 1968.

Doyle grew up in Grand Ridge and went on to attend Marquette High School. He worked at Caterpillar Tractor in Aurora for 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kay; his son, Michael (Sarah) Olson; his daughters, Karen (Ron) Dovin and Patricia Voiles; his grandchildren, Amanda, Samantha, and Nicholas Dovin, Stephen (Kim) Whelchel, Robert (Amber) and Bill Jones, Bridget (Allen) Randall, and Nathaniel and Henry Olson; his great grandchildren, Lillianna, Lucy, and Howard Dovin, Asher, Sage and Briar Whelchel, Kyrie Voiles, and Allen, Andrew, and Erin Randall; his step grandchildren, Jason and Josh Dovin; and his step great grandchildren, Logan, Kinzie, Kayla, and Emily Dovin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie; his brother, Roger (JoAnne) Olson; his sisters, Joan and Marsha; and his daughter, Lori (Kirk) Whelchel.
