Douglas Ray Carder, 75, of La Feria, Texas, formerly of Utica, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2025. Born to Roy and Dula Mae (Dawson) Carder on August 16th, 1950, Douglas leaves behind a legacy of selfless love and devotion.

A visitation for Doug will be held on October 29, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Waltham Cemetery in Utica, Illinois.

Douglas enjoyed being with family and cooking for his loved ones, especially smoking different meats. He was known for his sense of humor, strength, and his big heart. He loved his family unconditionally.

Doug served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War, and went on to work as a stockbroker.

Douglas is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Carder and Kala Carder; grandchildren, Olivia Carder, Tyler Best, and Kaine Carder; and siblings, David (Sherry) Carder of Arizona and Jan Ferracuti of Illinois. He also leaves behind beloved nieces, Alexis (Jeremiah) Stearns of Illinois and Shanda (Bryan) O'Donnell of Arizona; as well as his beloved nephew, Hal (Tammy) Carder of Kentucky.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dula Mae; and his grandson, Cameron Krug.

Pallbearers will be Hal Carder, Olivia Carder, Alexis (Ferracuti) Stearns, Jeremiah Stearns, Pat Lahey, and Chuck Lemenger. David Carder will be an honorary pallbearer.

Memorial contributions may be made to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), an organization that helps place foster children in good homes.
