Douglas Churchill, 68, of Ottawa, IL, died Tuesday, June 19, peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Visitation for Doug will be Saturday June 23rd from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. A private burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Douglas was born September 20, 1943, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Francis "Bill" and Inez (Wright) Churchill. He married Evelyn Martin June 3, 1967 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. He was in the army reserves and retired from Libby Owens Ford after 39 years of service. He was a long time member of Shoreline Boat Club and Variety Riders Motorcycle Club. He lived to play Euchre, be on the water, shoot pool, and enjoy the company of family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; two sons, Steve (Jerri) of Ottawa and Marc (Denise) of Chicago; four grandchildren, Samuel, Joshua, Charlee and Chase; one sister, Linda Churchill Weatherly; two brothers, Tom (Barb) and Greg Churchill; his good buddy, Dennis Brown; and by many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Samuel Churchill, Joshua Churchill, Mike Churchill, Jeff Churchill, Dennis Brown and Darrin Schmitz. Memorials may be directed to Pet Projects, No Animal Left Behind, or donor's choice.
