Dorothy Slingsby

Dorothy Slingsby, 94, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2012, at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., prior to services, on Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried in St. Columba Cemetery. Dorothy was born December 6, 1918, in Ottawa to Fred and Julia (Poutre) Holloway. She married Francis Slingsby on August 20, 1940, at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He passed away June 10, 1979. Dorothy was a member of St. Patrick's Church and Catholic Daughters of America. She previously worked in the insurance department at the Ottawa Medical Center. She is survived by two sons, Pat (Barbara) of Bettendorf, Iowa and Mike of Snellville, Georgia; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; her parents; and one brother, John. A special thank-you to the nurses and staff of the LaSalle County Nursing Home for all their care and support.
