Dorothy Marie Schillings

Dorothy Marie Schillings, 82, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Pleasant View. Funeral Services will be11:00 AM Friday April 30, 2010 at Oakwood Memorial Park, Chapel of the Good Shepherd, with the Rev. Nathan Kramer officiating. Visitation will be Friday, one hour prior to services at Oakwood Memorial Park Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Dorothy was born December 12, 1927, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Gerhard E. and Bertha Ann (Herb) Schillings. Dorothy attended Zion Lutheran grade school, Ottawa Township High School, and Valparaiso University, and attended many classes at IVCC. She was a 3rd generation member of Zion Lutheran church. As a student of John Naylor and Estelle Fedelle, she was active in the Art circle and exhibited in various areas. She volunteered in many aspects throughout her life, including, Meals on Wheels, a 50 year member of Zonta Club of Ottawa and served on its board for a number of years. She was also a member of Queens for a day-Red Hats club of Illinois and the Ottawa Garden Club where she served as an election judge for 25 years. Miss Schillings was employed as a Bridal Consultant at Famous Department store, a real estate office manager, and also worked for the Daily Times. She is survived by many Cousins and numerous friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church.
