Dorothy Geiger

Dorothy A. Geiger, 70, of Grand Ridge, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am on Monday, April 21, 2014, at St. Mary of the Fields in Grand Ridge with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am, Monday, April 21, 2014, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Dorothy was born October 25, 1943, in Streator, Illinois, to Michael and Ann (Uhren) Dvorchak. She married James "Goose" Geiger on August 27, 1966, in St. Stephens Church in Streator. He passed away January 26, 2014. She was known by her husband as "Sweet Pea". She was a member of St. Mary's of the Fields and Catholic Daughter's of America. Dorothy's life revolved around her family; especially her grandchildren. She was a great cook and loved to garden and sew. She was the typical farmer's wife. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Hill of Grand Ridge; one son, Tim Geiger of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Chase and Wyatt Hill and Garett Geiger, one sister, Leona Staver; one brother, Edward (Mary Ann) Dvorchak; and one brother-in-law, George "Dutch" Geiger. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James "Goose" Geiger; her parents; and one sister, Lillian Geiger. Pallbearers will be Garett Geiger, Chase and Wyatt Hill, Jim and David Dvorchak, and George Geiger, Jr. Memorials may be directed to the Grand Ridge Fire Department or to the donor's choice.
