Doris R. Brown

Doris R. Brown, 97, of Ottawa, formerly of Cicero, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Pleasant View.

Funeral Services will be held at 6 pm, Wednesday, December 19 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Wood officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home. She will be buried at Chapel Hill Gardens in Oak Brook Terrace.

Doris was born September 12, 1921 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Walter and Elvira (Eggert) Bergenthal. She married Harry Brown December 7, 1946 in Chicago; he passed away August 2, 1986. Doris enjoyed needlework, reading, and quilting. She volunteered at McNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn for more than forty years. Later in life, she served as a secretary to the President of Morton College in Cicero.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Sharon Loudon) Brown of Ottawa; her daughter-in-law, Denise Poloyac of Chicago; two grandchildren, Mark (Nisha) Loudon-Brown and Ryann (Chad) Loudon-Brown; one great-grandson, Treyton Smith; and two brothers, Walter (Karla) Bergenthal and Neil (late Ann) Bergenthal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Barbara Brown.
