Donna Armstrong

Donna Jean Armstrong (Ostby), 64, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, January 19th, 2023, with her family by her side.

She was born to Marion and Loretta Ostby, July 23, 1958, in Miller Township. Donna graduated from Seneca high school in 1976, and was homecoming queen in 1975.

She married Rick Armstrong June 6, 1980, in the Stavanger Lutheran Church in Stavanger, IL. They lived together in Ottawa raising their two sons, Greg and Jeff.

She worked for nearly 46 years at The First National Bank of Ottawa, the longest tenure in the bank's history, where she started out as a teller, worked her way up to Retail Banking Manager, and was just a few months away from retiring as Bank Security Manager.

Donna was a clever and kind soul, always willing to spread smiles with her jokes and stories. She was an excellent gift giver, never missed a special date, and felt every day was a reason to celebrate. With a true zest for life, she loved traveling (especially to the beach), sharing a meal and drinks with those she loved, and being with her family. She excelled at spreading laughter and giving hugs. She loved planning and going on adventures and especially enjoyed creating magical moments and experiences for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Armstrong (Ottawa); son, Greg Armstrong and daughter-in-law Rebecca Armstrong (Davenport); son, Jeff Armstrong and daughter-in-law Megan Trinrud (Los Angeles); and grandchildren, Casey, Allison, Brooke, and Ben Armstrong (Davenport). She is also survived by her mother, Loretta Ostby (Marseilles) and sister, Peggy Keeney (Marseilles). She is preceded in death by her father, Marion Ostby and brother-in-law, BJ Keeney.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 25, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at Stavanger Lutheran Church, 2904 N 32nd Rd., Seneca, IL  61360, on Thursday, January 26, at 10am with Rev. Phil Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Columba Cemetery.
