Donald "Diz" Rossiter

Donald "Diz" Rossiter, 92, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in La Salle.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Columba Cemetery at a later date.

Donald was born January 5, 1932, in Ottawa, IL, to Walter Patrick and Emma (Poutre) Rossiter. He graduated from Ottawa High School and later served in the United States Army from 1952 - 1954.  He worked for Libby Owens Ford in Manteca, California for over 20 years and when he retired moved back to Ottawa.  He was a football and baseball player and was even offered a contract to play in the minor leagues. He enjoyed watching baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and painting. He took many long walks, and would often walk on the canal from Ottawa to LaSalle. He loved his family and never missed an opportunity to be with his nieces and nephews or his great nieces and nephews and always enjoyed attending their games and events.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Mucci and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Emma; his siblings, Evelyn Orsini, Robert Rossiter, Harold Rossiter, Walter Rossiter Jr., Alyce Erickson, Kathleen Bumgarner, and a brother in infancy; as well as his nieces and nephews, Mark Rossiter, Dave Mucci, Don Mucci, Cindy Kubinski, and Kari Repsel.

The family would like to extended their most sincere gratitude to the staff of the Veteran's Home for the incredible care and compassion that was shown during Diz's stay.
