Donald Lee Ondrey

Donald Ondrey, 69, of Ottawa, IL, passed away on September 13th, 2024 at his home in Ottawa with his wife by his side.

Donald was born November 19th, 1954, in Hawthorne, California, to John and Jean (Harris) Ondrey.

He was a man of many passions, with the love of his life always by his side. Don enjoyed traveling, all things involving cars, & everything nature related. He could bring humor to just about any conversation and was known to have some of the best one liners. He was a man of strong Catholic faith and was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church. Don served in the US Army from 1971 to 1974 and was stationed in Baumholder Germany.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years; Janet; sister Bonnie (Mike) Betnar; brother & sister in laws, Tim (Kathy) Kakara and Randy (Rhonda) Kakara; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by both his parents; siblings; Lynda Darm and Larry; his mother & father in law Elmer & Elvida Kakara.

The visitation will be held at Ottawa Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 18th, from 4:00PM to 7:00PM and Thursday 9:00AM-10:00AM. The funeral ceremony will be at Ottawa Funeral Home beginning at 10:00AM with Monsignor Merdian officiating. The interment will be at the Saint Stephen Cemetery with military honors.
