OTTAWA -- Donald J. Miller, 77, of Ottawa, died Jan. 23, at the Veterans Home in La Salle. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Columba Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Walter Miller officiating. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ottawa Funeral Home with a rosary at 4. Mr. Miller was born March 28, 1930, in Sandwich, to Roy and Isabelle (Thompson) Miller. He married Arlene Graham July 21, 1951. He retired from Operating Engineers Local 150. He served in the US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He received a bronze star. He was a member of St. Columba Church, VFW, the American Legion, Twin River Engine Club and the Sandwich Engine Club. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; a daughter, Laurie (Don) Fieldhouse of Richland, Wis.; three sons, Eugene (Jackie) of Momence, Patrick and Mark (Angie) both of Ottawa; 15 grandchildren, Melissa Fischer, Monica Chapman, Eric, Leslie, Brett, Brandon, Nicholas and Kody Miller, Kasey Wilson, Seth, Heather, Preston, John, Connor and Lynette Fieldhouse; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary English of Bloomington; three brothers, Edward (Barb) and Willard "Bud" (Agnes) of Ottawa, and the Rev. Walter Miller of New Jersey. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Richard, James, Jerry, John and Bernard, and a sister, Laura Mathews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
