Donald E. Meredith, 72, of Ottawa, IL, died, Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Ottawa Pavilion. Funeral Service will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Walker officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 pm, Tuesday, December 28, 2010 two hours prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date. The American Legion Post 33 will fold and present the flag. Donald Meredith was born, September 23, 1938, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Merle and Virginia (Ford) Meredith. He married Sandra Mooney on October 18, 2006 in Ottawa. Don enlisted in the US Marines in1957. He was discharged in 1961 as a Lance Corporal. He then enlisted in the Air Force as an Air Man First Class. He served in the Air Force from 1961 till 1965. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 33, and the Northern Blue Grass Association. He was an Electrician at L.O.F Glass Co. retiring in 1982. He then drove a school bus for the Ottawa Elementary School System. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Chance (Barb) Meredith of Garden Grove Iowa, Robert (Jennifer) Meredith of Oglesby; two daughters, Carol Meredith of Newman Lake Washington, and Jessica (Frank) Bell of Post Falls Idaho; twelve grandchildren; and one brother, James Meredith of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parent's; two sisters, Judy Gage, and Renee Skhagman. Memorials may be directed to Donors Choice.
