Donald J Maupin

Donald J. Maupin, 67, of Ottawa passed away May 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Monday, May 23, 2011 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Ludwick officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 Sunday May 22 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Donald was born June 19, 1943 in Zanesville, Ohio to Arthur Donald and Ruth Ann (Cunningham) Maupin. He married Darlene Jonnassen on May 27, 1977 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He served his country in the United States Army from 1961-1967. He was a proud Member of Boilermakers Local 105 for over 30 years and retired in 1998. Donny loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always present at their ball games and at his grandson's motorcycle races. Donny cherished his time swimming every summer with all of the grandchildren; the swimming pool was never empty. Donny was often seen taking his great grandchildren for wagon rides and taking his great grandson for rides in his truck to see their "big rock." He is survived by his mother, Ruth Ann Maupin; his wife, Darlene; three sons, Donald (Lisa) J. Maupin Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brandon (Janette) M. Maupin of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tate (Nicchol) Bolatto of Ottawa; four daughters; Pamela (Barry) Nelson, Nanette (Douglas) Schomas, Laurie (Dave) Brewer of Ottawa and Rebecca Hartman of Cincinnati, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Colby (Amy) Zellers, Courtnye (Matt) Miller, Kailey, Brett, Bryant Schomas, JJ (Cheri) Brewer, Joey (Kim) Brewer, Jacob, Macie Jo, and Caleb Bolatto, and Michael, Kayla, and Odin Maupin; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Janet) Maupin and Steve (Michelle) Maupin of Cincinnati, Ohio. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roscoe Cartwright, Bobby Miskell, Rodney Sellers, Joe Jennings, Harlon Moore, and Eddie Walsh. He is preceded in death by his father and an infant son, Kelly Maupin. Memorial may be directed to his family.
