Donald E. Jobst, 89, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Fr. Agustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 3:45 pm . Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Donald was born July 4, 1926 in Streator, Illinois to George and Mary (Green) Jobst. He married Frances Biecker August 11, 1951 in St. Columba Church; she passed away December 4, 1995. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Don was a teacher at Central Grade School and Shepherd Middle School for many years and was also the Dean of Students. He was a basketball coach at both Central and Shepherd Schools from 1950 - 1978. He was inducted in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1989 and was then inducted in the Ottawa Township High School Hall of fame in 2013. The gymnasium floor at the new Central Grade School was dedicated in his name in 2012. Don was a family man who always put his kids needs before his own and was very strong in his faith. He is survived by four children, Joseph (Sue) Jobst, Catherine (Ron) Noel, Julie (Harold) Charbonneau, and Carol (Ron) Neurohr; eight grandchildren, Joely Harden, Bria Wanzung, Adam Jobst, Kyla Noel, Greg Neurohr, Emily Neurohr, Carly Charbonneau, and Mally Charbonneau; three great-grandchildren, Quinn Harden, Emmett Harden, and Gabriella Wanzung; and one sister, Mary Bower. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; one brother, Ralph Jobst; and one sister, Spohia Jobst. Pallbearers will be Scott Harden, Chris Wanzung, Kyla Noel, Emily Neurohr, Carly Charbonneau, Mally Charbonneau, Bria Wanzung, and Joely Harden. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Masses or to St. Francis, St. Patrick, or St.Columba building fund.
