Donald D. Jerde

Donald Jerde, 87, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Ottawa Pavilion. Memorial services for Donald will be Friday, December 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Don was born March 17, 1925, in Farm Ridge Township to Joseph and Ethel (McGlasson) Jerde. He married Louise Charlier on April 12, 1944 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. She died September 21, 1983. He served in the Southwest Pacific Area from May of 1944 to November of 1945. He was a custodian with the Ottawa Grade School system. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the American Legion Post # 33. He is survived by two daughters, Denise (Frank) Velez and Wendy (Gary) Hoffman, both of Ottawa; one son, Gary Jerde of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Jerry (Shilo) Velez, Josh (Nicole) Hoffman and Megan (James) Markey; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Jerry; one sister; and two brothers. Memorials may be directed to the family.
