Donald "Red" Hadsell, 89, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Pleasant View. Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00, two hours prior to services, on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Cremation rites have been accorded. Donald was born May 1, 1926 in Marshall, Michigan to Virgil and Hazel (Binkley) Hadsell. He married Irene Zitkus on November 4, 1950. Donald was a life time truck mechanic, he founded "Reds Truck Repair" and was known for his kindness and generosity towards people; he retired in 1991. He served in the US Navy a veteran of WWII. He was a member of Ottawa Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Irene; five children, Greg, Deb Gerding, Gary (Judy), Diane and Guy; five grandchildren, Christy (Jason) Bott, Aaron Gerding, Kevin, Karen and Brian Hadsell; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Blake Bott. He is preceded in death by his parents. Red was known for being a family man, he took interest in all of his children's lives. He enjoyed fishing, walking outside, scratching off instant lottery tickets, watching westerns, and going to the river and feeding the ducks. He will forever be remembered. Memorials may be directed to the family.
