Donald Duesdieker

Donald G. Duesdieker, 81, of Ottawa passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at Pleasant View.

Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, September 16, 2017, prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military honors at 11:00 am on Monday, September 18, 2017.

Don was born December 14, 1935 in Quincy, Illinois to Charles and Alida (Westerman) Duesdieker. He married Nancy Ringo on July 4, 1959 in Quincy, Illinois. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman from October 1955 - July 1957.

He worked for International Harvester in Hinsdale, Illinois as a heat treater for 23 years. He then became the Manager of the UAW Center in Ottawa, Illinois, where he oversaw the educational facility for 14 years.

Don loved spending time with his family by coaching both of his sons little league teams, being their Boy Scout Leader, and coaching his daughter's softball teams. He was President of the Pop Warner League in Lemont, Illinois and served on the Homer Township Volunteer Fire Department. He graciously gave his time as President of UAW Local 152, served on the Ottawa United Way Board, the LaSalle County Youth Service Bureau Board and Foundation Board, along with being an original volunteer for Otawa Labor of Love. He volunteered his time and service to LaSalle County Democrats. He was a member of Quincy Masonic Temple and Ansar Shriners Temple, Springfield, IL. He was a lifetime member of the South Side Boat Club in Quincy, IL.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; three children, Bret (Carolyn) Duesdieker, Bart (Kristen) Duesdieker, and Gyl Duesdieker; four grandchildren, Kristen (Wojtek) Stolorz, Kadee (JP) Korabik, Taylor Duesdieker, and Eric Duesdieker; one great-grandchild, Nikolas Stolorz; and one brother, Charles (Alma Jean) Duesdieker. Preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to LaSalle County Youth Service Bureau.
