Dolores (Gretencord) Hughes

Dolores Hughes, 99, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Thursday July 21, 2022 at OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am July 28, 2022 at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Nicolas Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 9-10  at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Dolores was born August 23, 1922, in Ottawa, IL, to Edward Gretencord and Helen Mary (Klein) Gretencord. She married Frank Hughes who preceded her in death. She was a Teacher at Grand Ridge Grade School. For many years, she taught 4th grade. She was a member of St. Patrick Church . She is survived by her sister Geraldine Haas of Ottawa,  a niece Lisa Haas of Chicago and  an extended family of cousins. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, an aunt Alvina  (Harry) Miller,  and two uncles Albert (Pearl) Klein and Henry (Berna) Klein. Pallbearers will be Tim Geiger, Dylan Thomas, Dean Thomas, Christ A. Thomas, Dave Thomas, and Christ E. Thomas. Memorials may be directed to Marquette Academy, University of Illinois - College of Veterinary Medicine, or the Grand Ridge Volunteer Fire Department.
