Dina J. (Biffany) Whitney, 62, of Ottawa, died Sunday, Feb. 8, at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 4 p.m. She was born Aug. 6, 1946, in Ottawa, to Charles and Mary (Vallero) Biffany. She married Edward Whitney June 17, 1972, in Ottawa. She worked for the La Salle County Sheriff's office and Friendship House. She was also a caregiver. She was a member of St. Columba Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Ottawa Moose Lodge and American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at St. Columba School. She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Denee Thulin; one son, Dana Brown; three grandchildren, Charles and Edward Whitney and Lucas Brown, all of Ottawa; two foster sons, Fred Carrithers and Larry Ball; four sisters, Mary Wright and Lucille (Robert) Cunningham, both of Ottawa,Rose (Thomas) Varney of Utica and Anne (Dominic) Cilla of Wheaton; and one brother, Gino (Kay) Biffany of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John, Julian and Felix Biffany; and three sisters, Lucille Biffany, Catherine Johnson and Josephine Botkins. Pallbearers will be Nick Wallace, Tom Biffany, Carl Carpenter, Carey Wright and Keith and Chris Benson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Polancic, Charles Biffany, John Hettel and Frank Ligori. Memorials may be directed to the family.
