Dennis R. Wold, 67, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Ottawa Pavilion. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Rites. Dennis was born March 18, 1945 in Ottawa, Illinois to Norman and Carolyn (Gondolfi) Wold. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1963 where he played football and received the Outstanding Lineman Award in 1962. He then attended IVCC and Northern Illinois University receiving a Bachelors Degree in history in 1967. Dennis was in the United States Army from 1967 to 1969. He served in Vietnam from November of 1968 to November of 1969 during which time he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He retired from the State of Illinois as an administrator for the Elgin Mental Health Center in the Rehabilitation Department. He is survived by one sister, Kathy (James) Venturelli of Oglesby; one brother, Paul Wold of Ottawa; a nephew, Michael Venturelli; a niece, Laurie Collins; and three Godchildren, Jodi McLean, Sarah and Matthew Speer. He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers will be Joe Shanley, Kevin Killelea, David Speer, Jerry Wold, Matt Murry, and Marty Gilligan. Memorials may be directed to the family.
