Denis M. Crowley, 78, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, October 3, 2014, at St. Patrick's Church with Fr. Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 to 1:00 pm, prior to services, Friday, October 3, 2014, at St. Patrick's Church. Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with his services. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Denis was born May 7, 1936, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Joseph and Evelyn "Sue" (Shumaker) Crowley. He attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School in 1954. He married Deanna M. Bernardini on April 7, 1956, at St. Mary's Church in Naplate, Illinois. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, and Marquette High School Go Club. He was a Marquette High School Board member for nine years and during that time was also president. He was the Jaycees president from 1964 - 1965 and received the Keyman award in 1963. He loved to play golf, garden, and was proud to have the greenest lawn in Ottawa. He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna; four sons, Denis (Linda) Crowley of Cary, IL, Dana (AnnMarie) Crowley of Barrington, IL, David (Kim) Crowley of Seattle, WA, Dean (Tara) Crowley of Colgate, WI; fourteen grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters, Joseph Crowley of Ottawa, Jim (Sue) of Lake Forest, IL, Tim (Judy) of Sarasota, FL, Penny (Kelly) Magoonaugh of Ottawa, Candy (Gerry) Gaudet of Canada, Kevin of Two Rivers, WI, Kalah (Jim) Hauser of Gurnee, Michele (Craig) Witt of Cary, Brian (Sheila) of Arlington Heights. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William and Jeremiah "Toby" Crowley. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Connor, Collin, Brendan, Kevin, Dean J, Sean, John P, Joseph, and Morgane. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Graham, Todd Spaulding, and Ryan Doyle. Memorials may be directed to Marquette Academy or St. Patrick's Church of Ottawa.
