Denee Brown Thulin-Mahler

Denee (Brown) Thulin-Mahler, 50, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, December 21, 2015. Memorial services will be at a later date. Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory is entrusted with her services.

Denee was born on May 10, 1965 in Ottawa, to Ernest and Dina (Biffany) Brown. She married Karl Mahler on February 24, 2014 in Ottawa.

Denee loved to go fishing and play cards. At just 15 years old, she was a world traveling model; she traveled to New York, Paris, London, and India. By the age of 21, she won 18 beauty contests in Illinois. She was trained in classical interpretive dance, and loved singing and art. Denee was known as "Momma D" because of her passion for helping others. She was a caregiver to the whole town and had a golden heart.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; two sons, Charlie and Eddie Whitney; her father Ernest; her brother, Dana Brown; her step-brother, Fred Carrithers; and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Dina and her step-father, Edward Whitney.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie and Charlie Whitney, Lucas Brown, Bob Keith, Charlie Biffany, Cary Carpenter, Fred Carrithers, Bob Cunningham, Barry Baxter, Nick Wallace, and Randy Biffany.
