Dean P. Eiten, 55, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Rev. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 15 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 p.m., with the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree in attendance. Additional visitation will be Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., prior to the services, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery.

Dean was born October 3, 1960 in Spring Valley, Illinois to Lavern and Patricia (Hopkins) Eiten. He married Lisa McLachlan on November 18, 1989 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ottawa. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Dean was a 1978 graduate of Hall High School, a graduate of Illinois Valley Community College, and Western Illinois University. He was employed by RP Lumber as a bookkeeper. Dean loved his job and his co-workers, who were so good to him during his illness.

Dean loved life, especially spending time with his family and friends. He loved all sports and was very proud of his nieces' and nephews' accomplishments. Dean will be truly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa of Ottawa; his mother, Patricia Eiten of Ladd; two sisters, Lynn (Michael) Klein of Cherry, and Carla (Robert) Breisch of McHenry; as well as thirteen nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lavern; and one sister, Lori Ann Brophy.

Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law, Bob Breisch, Jim Brophy, Mike Klein, Dan Espinoza, Marty Corso, Dave Duffey, Bob Dunn, Jack McLachlan, and Bob McLachlan.

Memorials may be directed to the family for distribution to Dean's favorite charities.
