David S. Mccandless

David S. McCandless, 51, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 pm, Wednesday, November 16, at Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory, with Allan Treest officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm, prior to the services, at the funeral home.

David was born November 1, 1965 in Chicago, to David and Josephine Ellen (Simpson) McCandless. He was a 1983 graduate of Schaumburg High School and received his Associate's Degree from IVCC. David worked as the front office assistant at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center for the past two years. He was an artist and a member of the Ottawa Art League. David was also a member of The Second City Comedy Club in Chicago, and was known for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his parents, David and Jo; two children, Trevor and Alyson (Ryan Glasner) McCandless, both of Ottawa; siblings, Susan (Michael) Bates of Peru, Brian (Natalie) McCandless of Ottawa, and Heather (Allan) Treest of Ottawa; uncle, Peter (Nalan) McCandless of London, England; Aunt, Amy McCandless of Charleston, SC; two cousins; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; niece, Sara Treest; and aunt, Edith McCandless.
