David Hougas

David Wallace Hougas, 57, formerly of Marseilles died at his home in Freeport, Florida following a lengthy illness on Saturday, July 16th, 2011. Ottawa Funeral home is in charge of private graveside services to be held at a later date. He was born on December 1, 1953 to Phyllis (Seibert) Lowery and Wallace (Bud) Hougas. He graduated from Marseilles High School in 1972. He worked on his last job as a Project Superintendent for Barlovento Construction Company and worked many years in the construction business building commercial buildings. He is survived by both of his parents, stepmother Lee, his wife of 21 years, Cathy (Reynolds) Hougas; two step children, Denny Lee (Nicole) of Orlando, Fla.; Celeste of Ottawa; 4 grandchildren, Heather, Emily Ann, Tyler and Zander; two sisters, Cheryl (Jim) O'Brien and Cathy Hetelle of Marseilles; one Aunt, Janice Spencer of Marseilles; 3 nieces Tricia (Dave) Murray of Lakeland, Fla.; Taryn Ortiz of Seneca; and Jennifer (Luke) Hoyt of Marseilles; and 1 nephew, Christopher Hetelle of Marseilles. Dave will be remembered for his love of building buildings. Memorials may be directed to the family.
