David R. Engel

David R. Engel, 54, of Ottawa died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home in Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30am Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa with Msgr. Jerome Ham officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home. David was born March 29, 1956 in Ottawa, Illinois to Robert and Peg (Brown) Engel. Throughout his life he had performed many tasks in many different job settings but the job he was best at was being a father. Raising two children as a single parent, David never failed to love his children. He devoted his time, energy, and overall life to make sure his children were happy. David was also a very reserved man and did not ask much out of life. He enjoyed the simple things such as fresh coffee in the morning, and stale coffee in the afternoon. He is survived by his mother, Peg Engel; two sons, Dennis R. of Kuwait and Michael (Melissa) of Macomb, IL; one sister, Sheila Heth of Princeton, IL,; one brother, Raymond C. Engle of Naplate; and his two cats, who are completely disoriented without him. He is preceded in death by his father. If David were to have any last words before passing, I can only think of two that would fit; "Peace Brotha!" Pallbearers will be Mike and Dennis Engel, Matt Heth, Mark Hickman, Ray Engel, and Craig Burgwald. Memorials may be directed to the family.
