Claire Johnson

Elizabeth Claire (Irwin) Johnson, 93, of Seneca, IL, passed away with her loving husband by her side on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Rivershores Care Center in Marseilles. Funeral Services will be at 11:30 AM Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at First United Methodist Church of Seneca, with Rev Tom Bourke officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:30 am, Wednesday, May 25 at First United Methodist Church of Seneca. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca. Arrangements are entrusted to the Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca. Claire Johnson was born May 28, 1917, in Morris, Illinois to W.B and Nettie (Smith) Irwin. She was a Seneca High School graduate. She married Alvin "Bud" Johnson on June 17, 1939 in her parent's home in Seneca, Illinois. She was an active member within the First United Methodist Church in Seneca where she taught Sunday School for over sixty years. She was inspirational in starting the first Cradle Roll in the Church. She played the organ for her church. She also enjoyed giving lessons on both the piano and organ. She is survived by her loving husband, Alvin Johnson of 72 years; one sister-in-law, Frances McNellis of Morris; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Bill, Mike, Bob, Steve, Kett Johnson, and Dave Bedeker. Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Larson, Robert Hegland, Rudy Maierhofer, and James Van Cleave. Memorials may be directed the donor's choice.
