Christopher Broadus, 64, of Ottawa, IL, passed away Wednesday January 19, 2022, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1957, in Ottawa, IL, to Donald and Wanda (Beck) Broadus.
He married Stephanie Riding on January 9, 1998, in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife Stephanie Broadus of Ottawa; Mother, Wanda Beck Broadus of Ottawa; Son’s, Benjamin (Amanda) Broadus and Robert Broadus; Daughter, Tara Riollano and two Brothers, Steve Broadus and Donald F. (Cindy) Broadus living in Kokomo Indiana, 1 grandson, Benjamin Joseph Broadus Jr. and 3 nephews, Stephen J. Broadus Lee Maurer and Ryan Summers and beloved extended family and friends.
Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Donald I. Broadus and a son Donald C. Broadus.
Upon meeting the love of his life, Christopher worked as a laborer out of Marseilles. In addition to working the trades, he was a material handler at Borg Warner in Ottawa, IL and a die cast operator at Impact Industries in Sandwich IL. He will be forever remembered for his kind heart and love for his family. Described by his youngest son Robert, he shared that he will forever remember his dad as a man who loved his music, made him Mickey Mouse waffles for breakfast, referred to him as “buddy” and was a funny guy. Christopher’s mother shared that not only was he a wonderful son, but he will be sadly missed as he was the sweetest man there ever was. She will forever remember the conversation she had with her son when he lost one of his own children, “No parent should ever be here, and a child be gone.” His memory will live on forever.
Visitation Services will be held from 10:00-11:00 am, Monday February 7, 2022, at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa followed by mass, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will immediately follow mass at St. Columba Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the family to provide support and respite care for their son Robert.
