Charlotte Varney

NORMAL -- Charlotte M. Varney, 81, of Normal, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, June 29, at Heritage Manor in Normal. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ottawa Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Ottawa, to Earl and Margaret (Downey) Sharp. She married Francis "Frank" Varney on Dec. 7, 1945, at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa. He died Sept. 20, 2003. She was a member of St. Patrick Church. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (Kenneth) Kamala-Lee of Massachusetts and Charlene (William) Zimmerman of Bloomington; one son, Frank Varney Jr. of Carbondale; five grandchildren, Angelia Varney, Nicole Diaz, Jason Hartong and Nathan and Kristi Zimmerman; and three great-grandchildren, Shain and Cheyanne Diaz and Michael Lazar. She was preceded in death by three grandsons, Aaron Zimmerman and Michael and John Lazar; two sisters, Viola Nelson and Marjorie Sharp; and three brothers, William, John and Edward Sharp. Pallbearers will be Jason Hartong, Nathan Zimmerman, Al and Shain Daiz, Michael Lazar and Allan Waterworth.
