Charlotte B. Varney

Charlotte B. Varney, 95, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away January 23, 2012 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012 with prayers at 3:45 with the Catholic Daughters in attendance at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Charlotte was born October 18, 1916 in West Brooklyn, Illinois to Albert and Edith (Jeanguenat) Bieschke. She married Michael M. Varney, Jr. September 25, 1943 at St. Columba Church. He passed away June 11, 1989. Charlotte is survived by five sons, Stephen (Patricia) of Conway, SC., Edward (Renae) of Ottawa, David (Karen) of Ottawa, Richard (Lynn) of Ottawa, and Kevin (Sharon) of Bloomington; four daughters, Linda (Leo) Halm of Blaine, MN, Marcia (John Stevenson) of Ottawa, Barbara (Craig) Godwin of Ottawa, and Virginia (David) Foulker of Ottawa; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Marie Ruhland of Ottawa and Lois Doherty of Rockford. She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Roger; her sister Leah; and one granddaughter, Dena Towne. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tadd, Steve Jr, and Matthew Varney, Richie Jovanovich, Jr., Tim, Chris, and Nick Sarver. Memorials may be directed to the St. Columba Restoration Fund or to Pleasant View Dementia Unit.
