Charles I. Walker, 89, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013, at LaSalle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Hope Klutsey SMA, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, with military services. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Charley was born August 6, 1924, in Angelica, NY to Carlos David and May (Butler) Walker. He married Marian Heary on June 5, 1948, at Sacred Heart, St. Mary's PA. She died May 10, 1994. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He worked at the Medical Center as a Lab Tech and X-Ray Tech. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, the American Heart & Cancer Association, Community Concert, was a Boy Scout leader for many years, and was President of the Parents' Club at St. Patrick School. He is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Reynolds of Ottawa and Mary (Robert) Miller of Marseilles; two sons, Patrick Walker of Ottawa and Tim (Dar) Walker of Seneca, eight grandchildren, Leonard (Stefanie) Baynum, Renae (Chris) Lentz, Bob Miller, Bill (Nikki) Miller, Dan (Anna) Miller, Michelle (Zack) Anderson, Joane (Rich) Snook and Bridget (Ryan) Cantlin; sixteen great grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Pontzer of Ridgway, PA, and Lois (William) Davis of Bennington, VT. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sons, Carl and Wayne; and a daughter, Caroline. Pallbearers will be members of the family.
