Charles J. Martin Jr.

Charles "Jim " Martin,63, of Seneca, died Saturday, Jan. 3, at Morris Hospital. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca, with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating.Cremation is to follow services. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. He was born Dec. 29, 1945, in Morris, to Charles James and Lois Frances (Durland) Martin Sr. He married Sharon Goodrich June 26, 1970, in Aurora. He worked for Caterpillar in Aurora for 30 years. He retired in 2001. He was in the U.S. Navy submarine service, and was stationed in the Mediterranean from 1964 until 1968. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; three daughters, Janet Taylor of Sycamore, Julie (Mark McCoy) Ardelean of Rockford and Charlotte (Bruce) Shryock of Jasonville, Ind.; three sons, James (Amy) Goodrich of Sandwich, John (Missy) Martin of Marseilles and Jeff (Katrina) Martin of Oswego;10 grandsons and 10 granddaughters; six great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; one sister, Nancy (Tom) Forsell of Washington state; two brothers, Gary (Debi) and Brad (Barb) Martin, both of Minooka; and his mother, Lois (Burl Houston) Martin of Seneca. He was proceeded in death by his father; a grandson, Kory Martin; and two brothers, David and Allen Martin. Memorials may be made to the donors' choice.
