Chance Ruger

Chance William Ruger, 25, of Ottawa, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, from 11:00am until 2:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 2:00pm at the funeral home, with Deacon Ron Wackerlin officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.

Chance was born December 23, 1998, in Morris, IL, to Andrew "Jay" and Terri (Steele) Ruger.

He graduated from Ottawa Township High School Class of 2017. After school, he had many jobs, but found his career working as a security guard for Allied Universal Security Systems. When he wasn't working, he loved hanging out with his friends and playing on his Xbox and Playstation with his friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, frequently going fishing or taking trips to Starved Rock. He also enjoyed traveling, going to places like Washington DC, San Antonio, TX, San Francisco, CA, and Wisconsin but, his most memorable trips were with several friends, visiting New Orleans and The Lake of the Ozarks.

He is survived by his mother, Terri Ruger; his brothers, John White and Dru Zersen; his nieces and nephews, Alex and Madison White, and Valeska Zersen; his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Janice Ruger; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his two beloved kitties, Buddy and Armani.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay and his maternal grandparents, William and Jean (Moeller) Steele.

Memorials may be directed to the family or an organization of the donor's choosing.
