Catherine "Kitty" Gunderson

Catherine "Kitty" Gunderson, 94, of Ottawa passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at Pleasant View. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Saturday, May 20, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:00, one hour prior to services, Saturday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Catherine was born December 19, 1922 in Lamoille, Illinois to Richard and Lucille (Stockdale) Kelly. She married Kenneth Gunderson January 14, 1950 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Altar and Rosary Society, and The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She volunteered at Pleasant View Luther Home for 17 years in the gift shop as well as at St. Francis Church. She was a past counselor for Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Camp Fire. She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth; one daughter, Cynthia (Russell) Nelson of Florida; one grandson, Ryan (Corianne) Nelson of Arizona; one niece, Bonnie (Larry) Mayhall of Ottawa; and three nephews, Richard Schmitz of Seneca, Kelly Aubry of Florida, and Ronnie Aubry of Ottawa. She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Margarette Seibel, Florence Marshall, Bernice Bonnefoy, Dorothy Schmitz, and Edith Aubry; one niece, Margarette "Peggy" Seibel, and one nephew, Keith Schmitz.
