Catherine Corso

Catherine Corso, 72, of Westmont, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at Ottawa Funeral Home. A private burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery. Catherine was born on October 28, 1939 in Ottawa, Illinois to Lindo and Catherine (Brusnighan) Corso. She graduated from Marquette High School and attended the St. Charles School of Nursing. She received her Master's Degree in Nursing from the UIC Medical Center, where she later was an instructor. Cathie finished her career as the Director of Nursing at Loyola Hospital and Medical Center. Cathie was an active volunteer for PADS and local soup kitchens. She spent much of her free time helping those in need. She is survived by four sisters, Louise (Thomas) Roach of Poynette, Wisconsin, Linda Busse of Vero Beach, Florida, Donna Corso of Westmont, Illinois and Mary Corso of San Diego, California; and one brother, Marty (Kathy) Corso of Hampshire, Illinois. Cathie was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all her many nephews, nieces, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Lung Association or to her sister, Donna Corso.
