Carol Travi, 85, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, adventure, and community spirit.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June, 27 at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, with a Christian ceremony to follow immediately.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Travi; her cherished grandson, Austin Griffin; and her parents, Joe and Alice Thiers.
Carol is survived by her son, Michael Travi (Mia Kennedy); her daughter, Cheri Griffin (Tony); and her treasured granddaughter, Paige. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Ronnie, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol lived a vibrant and full life. She generously gave her time as a volunteer at the Keeneland horse races, served as an usher at the Lexington Opera House, and was a proud ambassador for Kentucky tourism. She was involved with the Citizen Police Academy in both Lexington and Woodford County and especially enjoyed police ride-alongs.
Travel was one of Carol’s greatest joys. She visited 48 states, with only Washington and Alaska left on her list.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s hospital (stjude.org), a cause close to their hearts.
