Carol Mackey

Carol Lea (Callahan) Mackey, 81, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Daniel Wilder officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:15 am at Ottawa Funeral Home. She will be buried at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet at a later date. Carol was born December 10, 1932, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Peter and Frances (Hellman) Callahan. She married Bill Lettsome then married Thomas Mackey on January 31, 1980. She worked for the Joliet Medical Group as a Nurse. She was a member of St. Columba Church. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Daniel) Denewellis of Joliet, Krista (John) Abraham of Channahon, and Linda (Joe) Bierman of Bourbonnais; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Pat (Bill) Gerding of Ottawa, Joyce (Jerry) Barla of Seneca, Bonnie (Dominic) Verona of Carriere, MS, and Mary Ann (Jim) Schwarzbach of Geneva. She was preceded in death by her loving husband; parents; one brother, William Callahan; and one sister, Jane Eurich. Memorials may be directed to the family.
