Carol Cook

Carol Ann (Twait) Cook, 83, of Ottawa, passed away on November 21, 2023, at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.

She was born on December 14, 1939 to Russell and Amy (Emily) Twait in Wedron, Ill. She married John F. Cook on September 7, 1957. They enjoyed 64 years together before he passed away on November 29, 2021.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, at Ottawa Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. A memorial ceremony will follow at 5:00 with Fr. Nicolas Wilson officiating.

Carol worked for many years as a bookkeeper at LaSalle County Mental Health Center. More than anything, she loved her family. She adored her eight grandchildren and was so proud of them. She was always the first to celebrate their successes and spent countless hours watching their sports events, dance recitals, and anything else they were part of.

She also loved dancing with her husband, going shopping, spending time with her sister Mary, and playing cards. Carol was really competitive when she was playing euchre! She leaves behind a lovely group of her “Card Club” ladies with whom she played for years.

She is survived by her children, Shelly (Steve) Kuhn of Ottawa, Julie (Kirk) Scott of Sun Prairie, Wis., and Mike (Jane) Cook of Mundelein, Ill.; her beloved grandchildren, John (Adrienne), Alex (Kate), and Leah Kuhn, Shane, Christa, and Cara Scott, and Matthew and Caitlin Cook; her cherished great-granddaughters, Maya and Willa Kuhn; and her sisters, Nancy (Bob) Yuhas and Mary Lamps.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, and her brother, Richard Twait.

Special thanks to the compassionate staff at Pleasant View Lutheran Home who took such good care of our mom for the last 14 months, and to Cathy Moats, who was a devoted friend to her.

We will miss you forever, Mom. You did a great job of loving all of us, and we hope you dance with Dad for eternity. You will forever be part of us.
