Carl Harvey

December 12, 1930 — October 14, 2014

Carl Harvey, 83, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. He has now joined his wife Georgialee in heaven. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 17, 2014 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Underwood officiating. Military services will be accorded. Visitation will be Friday, October 17, 2014 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, Illinois at 2:00 pm following services. Carl was born to Venis & Myrtle (Rowe) Harvey in Summit, Illinois. He served in the US Air Force, stationed in South Korea as crew chief and Staff Sargent. He lived in Oswego for 40 years and Ottawa for over 20 years. He was in the auto business all his life; first as a mechanic, then as the owner of Harvey Motor Sales in Aurora and was the first Datsun dealer in the area. He loved auto racing, as an owner and driver for years, competing in mini-stocks, then as a pace car owner and driver at Grundy County. He was an avid fan of NASCAR also. He loved to drive fast and had many great stories of his adventures. He also had a life-long love for golf, beginning as a caddy at Edgewood Valley Country Club, LaGrange, IL and then golfing with his wife and friends and the grandkids for many years. He was a charter member of Oswego Baptist Church and Illinois Valley Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed the fellowship and the friendship of his church family. He is survived by his sister Pat (Paul) Williams, brother Vernon (Gloria) Harvey and children, Lauralee (George) Gaworski, Kimberly (Greg) Marsh, J. Scott Harvey, Amy (Brian) Conrad. Grand children: G.L. (Jenny) Gaworski, Brad (Lindsey) Gaworski, Ryan Gaworski, Kourtney Gaworski, Nathan Gaworski Angela (Seong Ku) Mitter, Michael (Diana) Marsh, Ken (Kris) Marsh, , Christopher ( Chelsea) Harvey, Ashtyn Conrad, Everett Conrad, Avery Conrad. Also; twelve (12) great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was known for his joke of the day, pranks with fire crackers and lead foot. He was a great friend to many. He was always up for a road trip, driving 5 hours to have dinner in Des Moines or across the country, he enjoyed the ride. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Evangelical Free Church , Ottawa, Illinois
