Burnette Smith

Burnette Knutson Smith, 97, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Pleasant View. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. Peter Ward officiating. Burial will be private at DeBolt Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burnette was born March 1, 1915, in Norway, Illinois, to Melvin and Anna (Nelson) Knutson. She married Floyd A. Smith on August 20, 1932 in Princeton, Illinois. He died September 26, 2005. She worked for the Hoxsey Store in Wedron in the 1950's. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wedron, the United Methodist Women and their Kid's Club program for 20 years and was treasurer of the LaSalle Genealogy Guild for 9 years. She is survived by two brothers, Wesley (Carole) Knutson of Atkinson, IL and Robert (Miriam) Knutson of Morris; three sisters, Ruby Vanderburg of South Carolina, Hellen Hagen of Pekin, and Shirley Alioto of MI. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Leaman, Orvin, Maynard, Truman, Archie, and Manley Knutson; and three sisters, Arlie, Irma and Betty.
