Beverly J. Houchin, 77, of Mazon passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Morris Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home with Rev. Tyler Carrell officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 6 at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Beverly was born December 11, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa to William and Judith (Tungland) Pearson. She was a 1954 graduate from Ottawa High School. She worked at several area newspapers and covered the Grundy County Fair as a writer. She worked for Federal Paper Board, Humiston Keeling, and retired from McKesson in June of 1998. She married Keith Houchin December 24, 1954; he passed away April 22, 2010. She lived in Mazon for over 50 years. She loved caring for her yard and decorating for the seasons. She and Keith spent many years in Bradenton, FL during the winter months. She loved and was so proud of all her children and grandchildren and her two great-grandchildren. Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Keri (Greg) Wahl of Streator and Kelli (Mike) Unger of Coal City; three sons, Keith (Christine) Houchin of Channahon, Kirk (Cynthia) Houchin of Mazon, and Kris (Patty) Houchin of Morris; two sisters, Shirley (Tom) Ruprecht of Sarasota, FL and Cathleen (Larry) Brewer of Glendora, CA.; her sister-in-law, Marilyn (Steve) Wallace of Crossville, TN; thirteen grandchildren, Brian and Cory Wahl, Allison (Mark) Dunlap, Leslie (Derek) Broadstone, Natalie and Michael Unger, Jason and Daniel Houchin, Kara (Matthew) Mejia, and Megan, Amanda, and Mathew Houchin, and Steffanie (Marc) Naples; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Dunlap and Cameron Mejia; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Keith; two brothers, William Allen Pearson and Donald Lee Pearson; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild in infancy. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be directed to Mazon Centennial Park.
